I have to suffer weekend workouts alone during the winter because Caitlin is off being RIDICULOUSLY GOOD at snowboarding.

(No, seriously. That's Numero Uno right there. Champion.)

Caitlin is SO good, she was invited to ride in Nationals this year. Out of 38 girls in her age group, she was ranked 19th. IN THE NATION. Beast.
While she was off on the mountainside, I made my way to the west coast a few times to see my wonderful best friend, Tina. Her and I met in Japan in 2005 and we've been likethis ever since.

When we all left Japan, I moved to Albuquerque, while Tina and her husband, Fernando, moved to Puerto Rico.

(Yes, they are a ridiculously good-looking Hispanic couple. I've heard people say the Brangelina of Puerto Rico! Whether in bathing suits, clothed, or dressed to the nines, they truly are the most beautiful couple, inside and out.)

Three years later and they finally made their way back to the states. Beautiful Southern California. I was so lucky to spend Christmas with some of my favorite people in the world.

POP QUIZ!
I'm going to throw a little math equation at you guys. Check this out:
Elizabeth + Caitlin = Beast Adventures
Elizabeth + Tina = Outrageous Laughing and Wine Drinking
Elizabeth + Caitlin + Tina = ???
OUTRAGEOUS LAUGHING AND WINE DRINKING BEAST ADVENTURES
What sounds more fun than that???

Japan, meet New Mexico. New Mexico, meet Japan. California, watch out.
Caitlin and I had a road trip adventure to San Diego last month. Fernando and one of his Marine friends participated in a Tough Mudder and I had to be there to check it out. ( Basic idea of a Tough Mudder? It's a 12-mile obstacle course with up to 27 obstacles, including log carry, ice bath swimming, walking over coals, getting electrocuted...fun, right? :)) Tina and I volunteered (with another set of dear friends from Okinawa) and were able to watch her husband and his friend finish in 2.5 hours. It was amazing! We've tossed around the idea of training for the Tough Mudder in Tampa, Florida ourselves. It isn't until December and it would be fuuuuun!

It was a suuuuper cold California morning when the volunteers got there at 5 am, but the scenery was nice (God bless the Marine Corps), the volunteers were all fun, and it warmed up within a few hours. We volunteered to be Face Markers. Literally that: writing bib numbers on the person's face. I was fortunate enough to get to write on some legs and backs and chests, too. For safety's sake.
We had a few warm days in San Diego before we headed back to Albuquerque. I think we may have brought the warm weather with us.
I went on a little adventure sans Caitlin to surprise my mother and my niece, Hannah. My aunt and her daughter live in Tucson, AZ and they had my mom and Han out from New Hampshire. Tucson is only about six hours from Albuquerque so I hopped in my SVT and knocked on their door. It was an awesome surprise!
To wrap this post up, I leave you with this:
This time of year is nostalgic for Caitlin and I. It's the year anniversary to a few of our most epic adventures, including the adventure of body building. This time, last year, Caitlin and I started thinking about competing in a body building competition. We started living at the gym. We weren't satisfied until our callouses were peeling and our muscles were having involuntary spasms. Well, hibernation is over, people! It's time to bust out the short-shorts and tank tops and bikinis! With about 8 weeks till prime skin-showing season, The Adventures of Quadlin and Elizabeast are back in action. We're going to have circuit training, speed tips, diet plans (not diet as in fad, diet as in lifestyle change), new exercises, old exercises, and, of course, adventures.
Stay tuned. You don't want to miss what comes next!
